Hello everyone, welcome to my blog, Life with Jenny! I am so glad you're here. I'll be super honest here - I don't exactly know what I'm doing - but I like to write and I have LOTS to share about many different subjects, so here I am, putting my best foot forward and just going for it.

We'll treat this first blog post as a 'getting to know you' kind of thing, so here goes! You guessed it, my name is Jenny. I am 36 years old, I am married to a wonderful man, Steven. We just celebrated our 17 year anniversary on November 26. We have 2 daughters, Ryann (16), and Erica (15) - yes they are close in age, I know - they are 19 months apart - no, it wasn't exactly planned that way! They are 2 of the greatest girls and we so incredibly blessed to that God trusted us to raise them. We have a 10 year old Poochon named Luna - she's an old, cranky grandma at this point in her life, but we love her! We also, very recently, welcomed our newest addition to the family, Dolly! She is a 15 week old Australian Shepherd. She's the cutest and absolutely FULL of energy! Our oldest daughter, Ryann also has a 3 year old bearded dragon named Eclipse.

I was born in Massachusetts. I lived there until I was 11, then my mom, my stepdad and I moved to Florida. Boy, was that a culture shock! When I was 18 Steven and I met and fell in love. We worked together for a bit, then we moved to his home, North Carolina. Shortly after, Steven joined the Army and we got sent to Georgia. We were in Georgia for 5, almost 6 years before we got orders to go to Alaska.

We live in Alaska - by choice. When my husband was active duty Army, we got stationed here in 2011. We were here until 2014 when we got orders for our next duty station. They said we were going to Italy - we were so excited! Then about 2 weeks later, they basically said just kidding, you're going to Kansas. That was a huge let down and a far cry from Alaska or Italy! We went to Kansas for about 15 months and then my husband decided not to re-enlist in the active duty army after 10 years of service and 2 deployments. We chose to come back to Alaska and make it "home".

During these moves, I was simultaneously working on my Bachelor's degree in Accounting. I completed school and earned my BS in Accounting in June 2016; definitely a proud moment for me! Currently, I work for a local non-profit here in town as the Bookkeeper and it's pretty great!

I am so excited about this blog. I am excited to share my type 1 diabetes diagnosis story, my hashimoto's diagnosis story, my premenstrual dysphoric disorder diagnosis story, my birth stories, my marriage, my testimony and how I came to accept Jesus as Lord of my life, work, all of it. I want to talk about all the things! I feel like many of these things, like type 1 diabetes, are full of misconceptions and misunderstandings. Type 1 diabetes is a CHRONIC autoimmune disease, which is important to know and understand. I'm excited to build a community where we can get together and share our experiences, our struggles, our lives. God didn't create us to do life by ourselves - He created us to do life TOGETHER, so lets do that!

xoxo,

Jenny
